From Dartmouth, fancy drinks in a can

Barkeep Cocktails packages craft mixology. Dartmouth mixologists Anisa Francoeur, Jeff Van Horne and Matt Boyle are about to ship 15,000 units of their espresso martini, the first of three cocktails in a can under the Barkeep Cocktails label.

For their next act, the mixologist trio of Anisa Francoeur, Jeff Van Horne and Matt Boyle are taking their cocktails on the road. At least, a few of them.

The three principals own, in some measure, the Clever Barkeepconsultancy, a catering business and the consistently packed Dear Friend cocktail bar in downtown Dartmouth. Now, 15,000 units of their espresso martini in a can under the label Barkeep Cocktails are being shipped to private wine stores and to bars in the Halifax region.

“We saw in the bar the popularity of the espresso martini, and we saw the challenge of getting that into a can because it’s not carbonated,” Boyle said.
